New Year's Resolutions.... Get Started!
New Year's Resolutions... We all make them.
This Year I will....
Lose Weight and Get Fit, Get Organised, Save Money, Pay Debt, Travel, Enjoy Life, Study, Change Jobs, Spend time with the Family...
Sound Familiar?
Many of us start, but we don't finish. Some of us don't start at all.
Then there are some of us that get as far as making a list and wait. We wait for the right time, a green light, a sign....
Are You waiting on something? You can STOP the waiting and Get Started.
Before we Get Started, let's look at Why? Why don't New Year Resolutions work?
Many of our Resolutions and Goals we set are either too vague or seem too big and most of the time they are too broad. Take for example the famous and typical "Lose Weight" resolution.
Many make resolutions that are "Large-scale" and while I encourage you to think and dream big... We need to understand and acknowledge that the "Big" cannot be accomplished with just ONE simple habit change or adjustment. It's a process and it takes time.
The Big, bold resolutions and change - needs to start with small simple changes. If you focus on just one "Big Goal" and break it down to do one small act for today, the week or the month, and build on it as you go along, you will find that you are making progress and actually will achieve that "Big Goal".

So how do we make New Year's Resolutions that work and ones we can actually commit to?
Get Started...
We can Never Finish what we Never Start.
Sometimes we spend so much time thinking about how to start, get too overwhelmed that we actually don't start. At times we can find ourselves in indecision and again get overwhelmed with big, drastic changes we need to make or the time it will take, so we stay where we are.
Procrastination and Perfectionism get in our way.
Have you set New Year's Resolutions? What is it that stopped you from starting?
The other huge factor is ... FEAR.
The fear of failure. The fear of not finishing what you started or reaching the goal. The fear we are not capable. The list goes on.
So Let's do it differently this Year. Let's focus on ONE thing.
Here are a Few Tips and Questions to Get Started:
- Pick ONE thing you want to do, work on and start. What is that ONE thing for you? What is that ONE thing you really want to achieve in 2017?
- Let Go and Forget - Forget 2016. Let go of what didn't work or what didn't happen. This is all the clutter and baggage you don't need to bring into your 2017. To make a start - you need to start fresh, clear and new. Even if you are picking up something you previously started and stopped.
- Get a Crystal Clear Picture of what you want to achieve. Take time to reflect on this and write down all the details. Where do you want to end up - your end result? Once you understand your end result, you will get clarity on where you need to begin.
- Get the picture of the end result, fast forward to the end of 2017.
- What will you be?
- What will you have done?
- How will you feel? This is your chance to create a unique picture of your intended direction and purpose that will come to life as the year progresses. In your answers, you will find what you need to get started and what you need to be about.
- Make January a month of reflection, planning and motivation to get started on what really matters to you the most. Take action in February.
- And Now.... Get Started
Maybe it is time for you to: Get fit and healthy, Start the Business, Save more money and get out of debt, Restore relationships, Make time for yourself, family and friends
Whatever it is for you, what you need to do is "Get Started". Is there something you already started and left undone?
We all have something we want to do and achieve. Look ahead to the reward - your end result.

After selecting your ONE thing you really want to do or achieve, letting go of past year's clutter and baggage, getting the crystal clear picture of what you want to achieve and where you want to be, you....
- Start Where You Are
- What do you want to be different in your life?
- What is ONE thing you will do to start this change?
- What will happen when this change occurs?
- How will you feel?
- Envision your future beyond the surface level goal.
- Use What You Have
- What do you have right now that you can use?
- What is in your control to use and do?
- Do What You Can
- What can you do now?
- What will work for you now?
Zero in on the things that you have right now that are in your control to do, the things you can influence and change. Have an open mind while reflecting and acting on this.
We all get one shot at Life....
Once you take one simple step, the rest will follow and reveal itself at the right time. The ordinary will become extraordinary. If you commit and build on what you do month by month you will progress and see change. But first, you need to Get Started.

When our goals seem too audacious - extremely bold or daring - our brains will find a good reason not to begin... So instead of New Year's Resolutions, follow this simple plan month-by-month and build on it.
Start where you are, Use what you have and Do what you can. Get Started. With time you will find that you have achieved your goals and your dreams become a reality.
